Free The Liberty City 7 !
On June 22nd, 2006, 7 young African men (known as the Liberty City 7) were arrested by U.S. federal agents after a sweep made in a warehouse in Liberty City, FL. that was suspected to be a training ground for a “terrorist group”.
The state claims the arrests were a result of a months long undercover operation facilitated by an undercover agent posing as an “Al Qaeda operative”.
The LC7 – also known as Narseal Batiste, Patrick Abraham, Burson Augustin, Stanley Grant Phanor, Naudimar Herrera, Lyglenson Lemorin and Rotschild Augustine – all from Liberty City – are being charged with a plot to launch attacks on the Sears Tower in Chicago and planning to "wage war against the United States government”.
BSR believes that this group of poor and exploited African men known as the Liberty City 7 - are nothing more than 7 victims of terrorism inflicted on the entire African population throughout the world. From Liberty City, FL to Port Au Prince, Haiti – African people are trapped in abject poverty and ignorance and brutalized by U.S. sponsored military police forces. We believe that it is not only natural but it is just for the oppressed to hate their oppressor and plan for its timely demise.
Furthermore, there is no basis for the accusations made by the state against the LC7. These brothers were reported to have shown no capacity (economic or otherwise) to launch any attack – nor has it been proven that they were ever involved in such discussion. What has been proven is that the U.S. government is moving in a true to form dictator-like fashion – with no regard for its own laws.
